VARSITY VOLLEYBALL TAKES 1ST PLACE AT JC TOURNEY

Our Varsity Hornets took home the 1st place silver trophy on Saturday at the Johnson City Tournament.  This marks the first time in school history that we have taken the trophy at JC.

In the round robin, Harpursville racked up wins against Waverly and Oxford to advance into the quarter-finals.  As the top silver seed, the Hornets had to beat Elmira in the Semi-Finals and Bainbridge-Guilford in the finals to take the trophy.

The team was led by Sarah Miller with 11 Aces and 26 Kills followed by Amanda Greenwood with 1 Ace, 31 Kills and 3 Blocks.  Tienna Avery had 5 Aces, 6 Kills, and 1 Block and Emma Davis had 4 Kills.  Nicole Haynes led the team in Assists with 56 and Chloe Dodd had 1 Ace and 4 Kills.

I am very proud to coach this wonderful group of young athletes from both Harpursville and Afton.  They played as a cohesive unit and represented our districts faultlessly.  Great job girls!          ~Coach Tim Strantz
